Fine Arts

A person in the fine arts industry creates pieces of art that are put on display in art galleries and museums as well as in the collections of corporations and private owners. Although some fine artists may complete projects on a commission basis, their works are more commonly sold through private art galleries or other dealers.

A person pursuing a career in the fine arts may choose to work with a variety of different mediums or choose to specialize in just one art form. Some of the most common specialties found within the fine arts field include illustrating, painting, sculpting, printmaking, sculpting, and restoring.

In order to become an artist or an art director, it is best to obtain a bachelor's degree or a master's degree in the fine arts. Those who are interested in becoming an art director should also take coursework in art direction or should pursue a degree in art administration instead. Those who are interested in becoming an artist, on the other hand, should choose coursework that is in line with the form of art they wish to pursue.

A good candidate for working within the fine arts is someone who is patient and motivated, as it can take some time to earn a decent amount of money in the field. Those who are passionate about art, believe in themselves, and are willing to work hard to get noticed within the world of art are particularly well suited to this career.
