What To Expect

In culinary management you’ll be the boss, overseeing the business operations of catering companies, restaurants, delis, bakeries, bistros, cafés, banquet halls and other cuisine related facilities. Your career in culinary management will include developing business and planning events with customers. You’ll see that food is properly prepared and appetizingly presented and efficiently served in the dining hall or reception area. Culinary management ensures that food and beverage inventory is sustained, that kitchen and company equipment is maintained, and that staffing is adequate to meet customer needs. Your culinary management tasks may also include bookkeeping and human resource responsibilities.

Recommended Qualifications

Culinary management training will give you the skills for a successful culinary management career. You can earn a degree or certification in culinary management at a culinary arts school, vocational college, career college or four-year university. Your culinary management degree program may include training in food service management, food production, menu planning, nutrition, sales, hospitality industry management, sanitation, human resources and accounting. Most culinary management programs include intensive on-the-job experience.
