Construction Management
What To Expect
Construction managers supervise projects like building commercial, residential, and industrial structures. They are in charge of planning, directing, and coordinating with their team in order to complete the project in the most efficient way.
Managers are also in charge of the selection process of contractors, plumbers, and electricians. Communication and leadership skills are important, as well as strong knowledge in all of the elements of construction.
Recommended Qualifications
Bachelor’s degrees in a construction related field, such as construction management or urban planning, are becoming more and more common as a minimum requirement. You may choose to major in building science and civil engineering instead. Although it is possible to move up within the construction field after several years of experience, a degree is typically preferred to put your career on the fast track.
