Catering Management

Catering Management is the perfect choice to take your food service career to the next level. In Catering Management you’ll direct or organize the staff that provides food, snacks, and beverages at weddings, dining rooms, sports complexes, convention centers, and recreational facilities.

When you ascend to Catering Management you’ll hire catering staff and train them in food preparation and presentation. You’ll balance books and make sure budgets are met. If you’re the Catering Management of your own catering company you’ll solicit business, book events and work directly with clients to plan the food and beverage service and inspect event locations. If you’re in Catering Management at a hotel or convention center you’ll book meeting space and ancillary services from the hotel and work on contracts between vendors and suppliers. During events you’ll supervise and direct the catering staff.

You can take the next step into Catering Management by completing a certification or degree program in food service or food management at an accredited college, culinary or vocational school. You’ll be able to have your Catering Management degree or certificate within 24 to 48 months, depending on the level of the program. Your Catering Management courses will include: cooking skills, meal preparation, kitchen equipment, presentation and distribution, human resources, business law, business management and accounting.
