Beauty Laser Technician
Those in the cosmetology field who specialize in hair removal are often called estheticians, skin-care specialists or laser technicians. Their main job is to cleanse and beautify the skin by giving facials and other treatments and massages. They also remove hair using lasers and wax.
Specialized training is available to learn the technique of laser hair removal with instruction and hands on learning. Laser technicians will learn all of the common types of dermatologic lasers. These lasers assist in permanent hair removal, photo-facials, vascular legions and tattoo removal.
In this field a great focus is put on customer service and students are taught how to host a professional consultation to educate, inform, and sell to the consumer the laser treatment in question. They often work on sensitive parts of the body and must be discreet and professional to maintain the most comfort possible for the client. Work is available at salons, spas, and resorts where pampering takes place and beauty products are sold. As the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports, estheticians may start as low as $20,000 annually, but with good experience and training they build up a clientele and can triple that salary.
