Beauty Instructor Training
Beauty is an ever-booming business. The demand for trained stylists, manicurists, facialists and estheticians always exists. A qualified beauty instructor must have knowledge in cutting and styling hair, performing manicure and pedicures, and facials. Instructors need to lead by example; work experience in the beauty industry is a must. Those choosing this path must enjoy working with people, have good public speaking skills, and be encouraging and supportive of those pursuing the career of their dreams.
Duties include developing lesion plans, outlines and evaluations to teach and assess cosmetology students. Course materials must be comprehensive and include lecture style instruction as well as opportunity for hands on learning. The National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences provides accredited courses for those wishing to become instructors. Certified programs have been reviewed to meet the guidelines of the US Department of Education including: Graduation rates, Placement rates, Teaching standards, and Curriculum requirements.
The most successful people in this field stay current with trends in fashion, art and design and have the people skills required to work with the public. Sales experience or knowledge is also helpful to recruit students to study at the school and complete the program. Often hair stylists can work part-time as beauty instructors, which can increase their pay by $22,000.*
