Beauty - Advanced Training
Beauty professionals work in a variety of ways to help promote and maintain physical beauty through a multitude of techniques utilizing a large array of products and services for hair, skin, and nails. Traditional beauticians or stylists receive training in cutting, coloring, highlighting, styling, curling, straightening, lengthening hair through extensions, applying make up and manicuring natural nails as well as applying and filling acrylic nails. These services are performed on clients in salons and spas. Training for these services is obtained through completion of a cosmetology program and most states require that stylists maintain current licensing.
Advanced beauty training provides information on modern techniques for permanent make up application, micro-derm abrasion, facial rejuvenation, or eyelash extension. Micro-derm abrasion is used to remove the dead surface of skin, which may be scarred, spotted or sun damaged. Aestheticians are trained to use a wand, typically on the face, to improve the skin. Facial rejuvenation uses chemical peels, laser treatments or topical creams to improve skin damaged by the sun. Eyelash extensions are used to create fuller, longer lashes by applying individual lashes.
By learning these additional services, stylists or salon owners can increase business by offering new and cutting edge services and providing clients with a full service salon to meet all their beauty needs. Pay varies depending on training, experience, and place of work.
