What To Expect

Aestheticians are in the beauty business! Jobs in this field can be found in salons, spas, hotels, resorts, on cruise ships, or you can work independently with individual clients. In this career you literally work hands-on with clients to attend to their beauty, relaxation, or pampering needs.

Services performed include: facials, extractions, herbal and chemical peels, and various relaxation techniques including aromatherapy and acupressure.

Recommended Qualifications

*Programs for skin care specialists are often short and typically require as little as 150 hours of class time before you can get certified. Most states require aestheticians to obtain and maintain a current license in the field. Class content includes safety and sanitation and how to recognize and improve skin care ailments. Students also learn the chemistry and ingredients of beauty products and how they affect the skin.
