National College is a professional school with several locations throughout the upper southern states and upper Midwest. National College has locations in the following cities in Virginia: Charlottesville; Danville; Harrisonburg; Lynchburg; Martinsville; and Roanoke Valley. Kentucky: Danville; Florence; Lexington; Louisville; Pikeville and Richmond. Ohio: Cincinnati; Canton; Dayton; Stowe; and Youngstown. Tennessee: Bartlett; Bristol; Knoxville; Madison; Memphis; and Nashville. National College also has one location in Indianapolis, Indiana.

National College was established in 1886 as the National Business College. The founder, J.A. Trimmer, had a dream of having a school that provided a quality business education to students in the Roanoke Valley of Virginia, as well as throughout the southeastern United States. During the last 25 years of the 20th century, 13 schools were added to the National College family. The National College consortium keeps growing, as three additional campuses have been added since in the new millennium.

Variety of Programs

Students attending National College can embark on one of several areas of study, leading them to new careers in: accounting; administrative office; business administration; computers; information technology; medical; paralegal; radio and television; and tourism and hospitality. Students have the opportunity to enter diploma; Associate of Science or Bachelor's degree programs.

Admissions

Prospective students wishing to apply to National College must have at least a high school diploma or a GED. Students wishing to enter one of the Bachelor's Degree programs must also have an Associate degree and must have earned at least a 2,5 GPA on a 4.0 scale on all prior coursework. Provisional admittance may be granted if the student doesn't have a 2.5 or Associate degree. Students may also apply for life experience credit. Students must also complete the application process, which includes interviewing with staff and touring the school. Students must also certify that they have no medical condition, which will prevent them from graduating from National College.

National College has small class sizes that allow students one on one attention from their instructors.

Students who qualify for financial aid may apply through the financial aid office at National College. Students have a wide range of financial aid options including: loans; grants; work study; scholarships; merit awards; federal assistance programs; state aid or cash discounts through the school.

There are a number of clubs and organizations in which students may become involved at National College.

There are over 600 computers available for use on the campuses of National College. More than 200 of those are designed for use with the college's Virtual Library.

National College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. Some of the colleges also hold specialized accreditation for specific programs and requirements of the state.
