Hands-on training
Midwest College of Cosmetology is an educational leader in the beauty industry and provides professional training courses in cosmetology, nail technology, and esthetics. Students are educated through hands-on training and can earn a certificate in Cosmetology, Nail Technology, Esthetics, Massage Therapy, or Instructor Training. Students can also earn an Associate in Applied Science degree, something few beauty schools offer. A strong emphasis is placed on customer service, technical applications, professional image, personal and professional advancement, and retailing.
State-of-the-art facility
Located in the heart of the Lincoln College campus in Normal, Illinois, Midwest College of Cosmetology (MCC) operates within a state-of-the-art facility of over 10,000 square feet. This teaching and learning facility features 3500 square feet of clinic space, 36 individual workstations, a shampoo station, a chemical station for perms and hair color treatments, esthetics and nail technology facilities such as those found in luxury spas. Other features include classrooms for both theory and practical work, a student lounge, and a learning library stocked with publications, curricular materials, audio-visual materials, and industry-related journals and magazines.
Enriching experiences
Midwest College of Cosmetology is committed to enhancing cosmetology education with enriching experiences including a variety of guests to create a rounded learning experience. Guests include product representatives, platform artists, headliner artists, salon owners, and other industry professionals. Students will also have opportunities to attend numerous field trips in the community to help gain skill and confidence when working with the public. MCC is also committed to assisting students in creating a plan to finance their cosmetology education, through a variety of student loans and institutional aid.
Job placement
Graduates of Midwest College of Cosmetology students already have a job when they graduate, 90% of the time. Many different career paths await the licensed cosmetologist, including a job as a Stylist, cutting and styling hair and doing color, or a Platform Artist, because manufacturers like to hire cosmetologists that excel in their specialized area. Working as a salon manager or owner often means more income, and requires experience and a basic knowledge of business. Makeup Artists can find careers at cosmetic companies, who look for licensed professional to demonstrate and sell their products. And Manufacturer’s Representatives are always in demand, as companies look for creative professionals to represent them in the marketplace.
Comfortable housing
Part of the Midwest College of Cosmetology experience involves living in a residence hall. All MCC residence halls offer an on-campus suite-style apartment, fully furnished. Students have the privacy of their own bedroom but share the apartment with three other people in a secure environment, with two full bathrooms and a washer and dryer in every apartment. Other features include cable TV, air conditioning, personal phone lines with voice mail, free utilities, and high-speed internet access. Another part of the MCC experience is guest services, with the opportunity to enjoy restful and relaxing hair, skin, nail, and spa services at reasonable prices provided by supervised student stylists, technicians, and estheticians.
