Accounting - Associate of Applied Business

Business Administration - Associate of Applied Business
The curriculum is designed to prepare individuals for business office management positions. The graduates will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices as well as an exposure to computer applications and business practices. Criminal Justice
The broad scope of the Criminal Justice program prepares students for entry-level careers in corrections, law enforcement, and/or security. Students examine the legal process from law enforcement, to the courts, and through the corrections system as well as its effect upon society. Graduates may seek careers as corrections officers, court clerks, juvenile support assistants, probation support assistants, or as security or investigative in business, industry, and government.
Electronic Medical Records
The Electronic Medical Records program provides students with a foundation in managing healthcare data and information resources. Students receive training in planning, collecting, aggregating, analyzing, and disseminating individual patient and aggregate clinical hospital data. Graduates may seek entry-level employment in physician’s offices, clinics, laboratories, hospitals, group practices, specialty practices, health insurance offices and nursing homes.
Human Resource Management - Associate of Applied Business
Graduates are awarded the Associate Degree of Applied Business in Human Resource Management. This curriculum is designed to meet the needs of the expanding human resource management field. Human Resource professionals participate in determining hiring needs, hiring the right candidate for the position, completing pre-employment processes, developing and implementing policies, enforcing regulations and policies, developing staffing models, assessing compensation plans, evaluating and implementing benefit programs, managing the payroll process, and more activities related to the human resource field.
Massage Therapy
Miami-Jacobs Massage Therapy program will prepare one for a career in Massage Therapy with intimate classroom environments, the latest technology and a rigorous course schedule. As a Massage Therapist one can expect to find employment in private practice, medical offices, hospitals and spas.
Medical Assisting
Miami-Jacobs Medical Assisting program will prepare one for a career in allied health with intimate classroom environments, the latest technology and a rigorous course schedule. As a Medical Assistant in the field, one can expect to: perform administrative and clinical tasks to keep offices and clinics running smoothly; take medical histories, record vital signs, explain treatment procedures to patients, and assisting the physician during the examination. Also, Medical Assistants perform basic laboratory tests, instruct patients about medication, draw blood, and take electrocardiograms. Because Medical Assistants work with patients, they must be courteous and present themselves professionally.
Medical Billing and Coding - Diploma
Diploma in Medical Billing and Coding. Graduates will have developed the skills necessary for entry-level employment in the medical billing and coding industry. Students will demonstrate competency in medical terminology, completing insurance claim forms, coding, quality assurance, and managing health records. The program emphasizes following legal and ethical guidelines while managing health records and coding accurately.
Medical Laboratory Technology - Associate of Applied Science
The Medical Laboratory Technology program provides training for an entry-level career in the clinical laboratory field. Medical laboratory technologists perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests. They microscopically examine blood and other body fluids; make cultures of body fluid and tissue samples, to determine the presence of bacteria, fungi, parasites, or other microorganisms; analyze samples for chemical content or a chemical reaction and determine concentrations of compounds such as blood glucose and cholesterol levels. They also type and cross match blood samples for transfusions. Some Medical Laboratory Technologists supervise laboratory technicians.
Medical Office Management - Associate of Applied Business
The Medical Office Management program provides training for an entry-level career in medical office support in computerized offices. The program emphasizes hands-on experience with currently popular software programs as well as front-office medical and business applications and develops traits employers seek such as the ability to assume responsibility, make decisions, and work independently. Paralegal - Associate of Applied Business
The Paralegal program provides training for the person seeking an entry-level career in a law office or in a law-related profession. The program stresses practical and specific paralegal skills designed to meet the employment and personnel training needs of attorneys, corporations, government agencies, law firms, and the legal departments of banks, insurance companies, and various business organizations. Students explore legal research, writing and analysis, basic concepts of substantive, administrative, and procedural law, acquire basic office skills, and gain a general understanding of the ethical and professional responsibilities of a legal assistant. Graduates may pursue careers as paralegals, legal office assistants, legal secretaries/receptionists, claims examiners, and compliance and enforcement inspectors in business, industry, and government.
