ISHC specializes in providing training for graduates to seek entry-level employment as Medical Assistants, Dental Assistants, Patient Care Technicians, Nurse's Aides, Home Health Aides, Physical Therapy Aides, Occupational Therapy Aides, Phlebotomists or EKG Technicians.

Illinois School of Health Careers is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools to award certificates and diplomas. Financial aid is available to those that qualify.

The Patient Care Technician diploma program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in a variety of health care settings.  In this multi-occupational diploma program, students are trained to perform any number of clinical skills from assisting patients as a Nurse's Aide or Home Health Aide, to performing electrocardiograms as an EKG Technician, to collecting laboratory specimens as a Phlebotomist, or to providing patient care as a Physical Therapy Aide, Occupational Therapy Aide or Respiratory Therapy Aide. 

 

The Patient Care Technician graduate can expect to find entry-level employment opportunities in doctor offices, hospitals, rehabilitation centers and urgent care centers.  In addition to being qualified to work as a Nurse's Aide and Home Health Aide, graduates of this program are also qualified to work as Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Aides, Phlebotomists, Laboratory Assistants, EKG Technicians or Respiratory Therapy Aides.

The Dental Assistant diploma program provides graduates with the training and skills that will enable them to seek entry level positions as dental assistants. Since they are trained in clinical, radiographic and administrative procedures, their services are sought in dentist, orthodontists, children's dentists, dental schools, dental supply manufacturers, hospital dental departments and insurance companies. Graduates are also capable of filling entry level positions such as dental receptionist, dental insurance clerk, dental supply salesperson and administrative assistant.

The Medical Assistant diploma program is designed to train students for entry-level positions as medical assistants in a variety of health care settings. Students study the structure and function of the major body systems and medical terminology, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, computer skills, administrative processes, bookkeeping and the processing of medical insurance forms and claims. In recent years, the medical assistant profession has become indispensable to the health care profession. Their services are being sought by medical offices, ambulatory care providers, clinics, hospitals, urgent care centers, nursing homes, medical supply businesses, home health agencies, insurance providers and pharmaceutical companies. This diploma program prepares graduates to fill entry-level positions such as clinical or administrative medical assistants, medical receptionist and medical insurance billing assistants.

ISHC has two convenient locations in Chicago, in downtown Loop near State Street and Adams streets, and near O’Hare Airport close to the Kennedy Expressway and the Cumberland blue line exit.

Illinois School of Health Careers, Loop Campus is located at 11 East Adams Street in downtown Chicago, in the "Education Corridor". The facility consists of classrooms, laboratories, X-ray room, resource center, computer lab, conference room and student lounge. It is conveniently accessible by public transportation just a few steps from world famous State Street in downtown Chicago's “Loop.” It is close to the Harold Washington Library, the Art Institute of Chicago, Michigan Avenue and Grant Park on the lakefront.

Illinois School of Health Careers, Cumberland Campus is located at 8750 W. Bryn Mawr, in northwest Chicago near O’Hare Airport. The facility consists of classrooms, medical and dental laboratories, X-ray room, resource center, computer lab and student lounge. It is conveniently located in Northwest Chicago and easily accessible from the Cumberland exit off the Blue Line or the Kennedy expressway (I-90).
