European Massage Therapy School :: Chicago

8707 Skokie Blvd., Suite 106
Skokie, IL 60077

At its campus locations in Las Vegas, NV and Chicago, IL, the European Massage Therapy School has a respected history of training students to administer the restorative and relaxing treatments of massage therapy. Demand for this branch of complementary medicine continues to rise alongside growing interest in 'wellness programs' and a better understanding of the mind-body connection.

An In-Demand Profession

Massage therapy enthusiasts know that this treatment is about a lot more than being pampered! It can be used to relieve pain and to help treat anxiety and depression, and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that employment demand for practitioners will grow faster than average between now and 2016.

A Thorough Career Preparation

At EMTS, students learn anatomy, physiology and pathology theory that is the foundation of therapeutic massage as well as the practical techniques and applications of this treatment. These include:

  • Swedish Massage
  • Sports Massage
  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • Chair Massage
  • Reflexology
  • Shiatsu

Graduates will be prepared for the exam offered by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and subsequent licensing.

Expert Instruction In Small Classes

EMTS boasts average class sizes of just 14 students, allowing personalized attention and close interaction between students and their well-qualified teachers. A flexible schedule of daytime, evening and weekend classes makes it easy for students to fit their training around other work or domestic commitments. Programs last 610 hours and can normally be completed in 8 - 10 months.

Hands-On Training At An Accredited School

EMTS' operations have been comprehensively reviewed and the school has received accreditation from Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). Students learn to practice their skills by working in the Student Clinic as an integral part of their course, administering massage therapy treatments to the general public while under the supervision of their instructors.

Financial Support

The school helps prospective students to locate appropriate financial assistance, which may be available as a federal loan or grant (depending on eligibility). The Business Department may also be able to assist applicants with a term based payment plan.

Job Placement Assistance

Employment opportunities for massage therapists can be found in a wide range of settings. Many practitioners work in spas, sports clubs and various health care locations, or are self-employed in their own private practice. EMTS draws on its network of business contacts to help graduates find work for the duration of their career.
